My niece Jayda turned 2 last month and we finally got together to take pictures. We met up last weekend when the skies were sunny but the ground was covered in snow. She was a great trooper and even took pictures in short sleeves :) She is such a big girl and I love her many faces!

On Saturday I met up with Angela and Kevin's extended family for a photo shoot at the Poudre River Trail. We had a great time despite it being a little chillier than the weatherman had predicted. Angela and Kevin's kids are adorable. Reagan was all smiles for the camera and Reese was not too sure what to think of the crazy lady trying to make her smile, but we still got some great photos of her anyway! What an enjoyable time I had with this family!

Tate came in for his Valentine Mini session today and he was full of the cutest smiles and irresistible faces I have ever seen! Such a happy happy boy! My friends Nicole and Travis were visiting family and friends in Colorado this weekend from Gillette and I was so happy that they asked me to do a Valentine Mini Session for him! He has grown so much since I saw him at only 4 weeks old. How can you not fall in love with his adorable smile!

I got to meet 1 year old Zoey for the first time this weekend! What a sweet sweet girl! She was so dainty and cooperative the entire session. She was even dainty with her cake smash! Her birthday was over the holidays so we were just now getting to her 1 year pictures, but no matter what they were adorable. I love her baby blues.

My best friend Amanda came with her darling girls to Colorado for a week visit after Christmas and while they were here we HAD to get photos of them. I have never had the opportunity to photograph them as they have been living in Iowa since before I started taking pictures for people. The girls look like they stepped straight out of a Gap ad and were such troopers given it was a cold evening and the wind was blowing nearly 60-70 mph at times. We had a blast and I just love these pictures! Great memories from a wonderful week with my bestie!

Lexi came up to Greeley from Denver for some senior photo shots. She lives in Florida with her dad a majority of the time, but was here visiting her mom for the holidays and wanted to get some cooler Colorado shots. Oh boy! It was cold and we tried to fit 10 people into my basement studio for a family picture! The Chapman's entire family gathered to get their family pictures done for Christmas and we had quite a fun time trying to get kids to smile and to get the whole family looking at the camera when the kids were! I love this crew and had a great time, can't wait till the weather is warmer and we can get outside for some pictures!

Christelle and Jason emailed me a few months ago with a surprise...they were expecting another baby and wanted me to capture pictures before the baby was born. They have 18 month old Sophie who is just adorable, so we got some special pics with mommy and Sophie as well as some family Christmas pictures. We had a great time and Sophie was so easy to photograph.

It was blistery cold and snow had recently fallen, but one of my coworkers braved the cold and had her family including little 9 month old twins pictures taken in downtown Greeley with me on Sunday morning. Linda had not had a picture of her entire family or any with her grandkids in a long time, so we had a great time capture memories and taking pictures while we all chattered our teeth. The Bradshaw's met up with me at Poudre River Trail last Sunday for photos! I know this family through my son's school and Maryann and I serve on the Eaton PTO together. The Bradshaw's are an adorable family and they have the most beautiful children! Little Jillian the youngest was not having the best day and was not too sure about the lady with the big black box, eventually we got some great photos of her, but I felt so bad when Jason told me the next day that she had a full blown ear infection and that was the reason for her not being herself. All the kids did great given the cold weather and we had a great time!

The Mussman family braved the bitter cold and wind and met me at the Poudre River Trail for family pictures. Steven told me that one year they didn't have a single picture that turned out, so they sent out a Christmas Card with all bad pictures, boy did I feel the pressure and luck was not on my side with the weather as cold as it was! Little Allie was not in the mood to smile and she is so shy and was so cold that we really didn't get a great picture of her, but I was drawn to her gorgeous blue eyes and her innocent little face, and Addie was all smiles and you would have never known she was freezing. We got some great pictures and hopefully one of these will make the Christmas Card this year and not because it was a bad photo :)

Lexi emailed me for holiday pictures of her and Miss Kenadie a while ago. I always expect some possible weather hang ups around the Thanksgiving weekend and sure enough we had pure sunshine but a blistery cold wind yesterday morning. Unfortunately our plan for outdoor pictures went out the window and we settle for pics in my home studio. Lexi and Kenadie look absolutely adorable in their holiday best. Many people have been posting 30 days of being thankful on facebook this month. I have not had the time to do one everyday, but today I am posting a few things that I am thankful for here on my blog. #1 Thankful for great friends who believe in my photography ability that they get pictures year after year #2 Thankful for lifelong friends who even if you don't see them but once a year, you remain close and never skip a beat #3 Thankful that our close friends have children the same age as ours so they are growing up together and getting the chance to be friends as well #4 Thankful that my photography has allowed me to expand my friendships beyond the occasional get togethers. So having stated those four things this is one family that applies to all four, as do many of the friend's pictures that I take over the course of the year. The Adam's have little Malia who is turning 5 next month and is similar in age to my Kyndal. Rich and Taryn have been friends with us since my husband and I met and Rich and my husband since high school. Their pictures turned out amazing and I am so glad we were able to get them scheduled for pictures this year!

Sweet baby girls! I have now gotten the chance to photograph several baby girls lately which has been a nice change from all the boys I had earlier in the year. Peyton visited me for her newborn shoot and came soooo sleepy, then all of a sudden she was wide awake! Despite her being awake, hungry and poopy for most of the session we got some adorable photos of her.

The Martin Family met me last Friday at Epple Park for holiday photos and Avi's 6 month pics. The kids are just adorable and have gorgeous eyes! We had plenty of snow left over on the ground and lots of tree branches too, but we were able to get some nice family photos and then headed to the house for some adorable pics of Avi! Her hat and diaper cover were totally adorable!

Last time I blogged about this family they were moving to the East Coast and I thought I was not going to get the chance to take their pictures again, well I was wrong and I love it when I am wrong! Matt moved the kids and himself back with Sarah and called me up to get pictures to capture Ace at 5 years old. I can't believe how much he has grown I remember when he was born! Ace is typical 5 year old boy and did great for his photo shoot, Zoe is 14 months old and was not too sure about anything that took her away from dad or Sarah. We have had a ton of snow here in Colorado the last few weeks which is unusual, but I was glad Matt was brave enough to bear the snow and ice for some fun outdoor pictures too!

I am so excited that my little brother is getting married! Finally! I have been waiting for so long for him to find the perfect someone to spend the rest of his life with and he has! My brother moved to Chicago right after graduation and so we don't get to see him very often, but I was honored when he and his fiance Annette decided to come to Greeley to visit for a little over a week so that they could get their engagement pictures done by me. We hit the fall color at its peak here in Greeley and we were able to get these pictures just before we were hit with 13 inches of heavy wet snow! There were so many great pictures, I love them all, they tell a story of how happy they are! I can't wait for September 2012 when they officially tie the knot!

My friend Lisa called and wanted to do family pictures with her husband and his children along with her and her children, unfortunately things didn't work out and everyone ended up with prior commitments. Instead I got to see Lisa and her girls Alyssa and Brooke and we had a great time in a little tree cove in Fort Collins! The girls have gotten so big and are not teens/tweens, which is crazy to me! Time flies!

The photo shoot I look forward to every spring and fall, it's the Spielmann family again and every year their pictures are wonderful. We met up at the DU campus again, on a beautiful fall day. I love how their pictures tell a story of what a close and loving family they are. The twin girls are very close and they adore their older brother. This family has made me feel like part of their family and every time we have such a wonderful time! It feels more like a visit then a photo shoot. The kids are getting pretty comfortable with me now, so we took more action shots mainly because they were enjoying the chance to be silly with Ms. Kris, they turned out wonderful despite all the silliness! Every time I take pictures of the Peterson clan I have a great time. Cindy stresses over it all, but it is really a fun time and we always get good ones! It has been a long time since I got to photograph this family! The kids are all grown up now! Mac and Riley were fun to photograph even if Riley was not sure about the whole smiling thing. She tried really hard not to smile, but when we got mom and Todd on board with the chicken she couldn't help it! The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners was GORGEOUS last week with fall color and it became the popular choice of most of my clients. We had another beautiful evening in Colorado on Friday night and got some great pictures!

I met with a new family, The Roberts, last Wednesday night at the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Grounds. Lucy works with me in the school district and had received a gift certificate from the school for a family session when she had her little boy Hollis. He is nearly a year old already and it was so fun to photograph him and his older brother Forrest among the fall leaves. It was a gorgeous fall Colorado night and I am so excited for her to see her pictures.

I was so excited to do this photo shoot for two reasons. 1. They were a new family to me and 2. I have known them a while and I get excited to see how there personalities will turn out in pictures. Well number 2 had me thrown off guard. I have always pictured Allison and Bob's youngest boy as a little shy, sweet, and soft spoken. He is definitely SWEET, but he showed me his goofball side during pictures and I LOVED IT!! We had such a great time at Glenmere Park and UNC campus this last Sunday taking pictures! The Cox family joined me at Benson Sculpture Garden on Saturday evening and we ended up with some great pictures. You would have never known that the start of it was a little rough by the way these turned out. Brian and Jaime's son is one of the kids I get to work with in my physical therapy job, I have known him for many years and it melts my heart when he calls me Christmas instead of Ms. Kris :) He wasn't very happy with me when I pulled out the camera, but after awhile we were able to get beautiful shots of those gorgeous eyes! Reagan is a natural in front of the camera and she had a blast giving me every pose in the book!

A photo shoot with the Johnson's is always fun and entertaining! This year we met up at Houston Gardens which is beautiful with fall color right now. I have not had any photo shoots here this fall, so it was fun to explore the grounds and see all the wonderful spots it has for pictures. During our weekend in Denver last week, I met up with my sister and her husband for their family pictures. We were supposed to go to Red Rocks but it was closed off for some reason, so we found a beautiful spot at Bear Creek Lake in Lakewood off Morrison Road. It was a gorgeous area and we had fun wondering the grounds. The only problem was that little Miss Jayda was tired and she was NOT having any of Aunt Kris' antics. I danced, I made funny noises, I sang, I tickled, it didn't matter she was not going to smile. As I was editing I thought, my sister is going to hate these, but as I look at them, there is something so beautiful about my niece when she doesn't smile, her eyes or something, and to be honest, we all know that this is real life and sometimes those are the very best pictures.

Andrew and I are so blessed to have great friends! We don't see them very often, we don't get together nearly enough, but our friends are dear and when we do see each other the kids have a blast, the adults have great conversations and we leave knowing that these are our lifelong friends and hopefully our children will also keep in touch with one another when they get older! I met up with the Nelson Family once again and we tried out the Westin Hotel grounds for pictures. It was bright which seems to be the theme whenever we get together for pictures, but the grounds were beautiful and we got some great pictures. Kennedy has always been a natural in front of the camera and Jack always takes a little time to warm up, but when he does, I camera lens LOVES his smile! I love capturing this family and especially the kids, it also gives us a great excuse every year together even if it is just a short visit :)

I met up with the A-family for pictures down in Littleton this last weekend. It is the weekend where we take the whole family down to Denver, stay in a hotel so the kids get to swim in the pool, have a great dinner and mom does a ton of photoshoots! It is something my family looks forward to each year! I was especially excited this time because I was going to get to do two new locations on this weekend. I met up with the A-family at Carson Nature Center in Littleton and we found that if you travel south enough the leaves are starting to change. We will see fall color here in Greeley in about 2 weeks, but down south it is already emerging. We had a great time and I love photographing adorable kids and beautiful families!

Anybody that knows me well, knows that I get bored easily. That might be why I work 4 jobs :) I get really bored with going to the same locations for photo shoots and in Greeley there is not a lot of different options for locations, so I am constantly challenged to make the same location look different for each family. Not on Sunday though!!!! I met up with the Eddy family in Parker and Gail had suggested that we look at O'brien Memorial Park and the Old Towne area of Parker! Gail has the best taste! It was perfect and different and fun! We had a great time and while we were there we were able to look through the farmers market that was there too. I love watching kids grow and Natalie and Taylor have grown so much since I saw them in January! Gail and Nick, thanks for letting me capture your memories and for giving me a much needed CHANGE!

Saturday evening I met up with the Townsend Family! I was so happy that they were interested in taking up a last minute cancellation spot because I always enjoy meeting new families! The Townsend's pick the Poudre River Trail for there shoot and I am so glad because it really is the best place for the little bit of fall color we have right now. The trees will be in full autumn color in 2 weeks, but the trail has enough aspens that it is already showing its gorgeous color. Charlotte is turning 2 in a few weeks and she is adorable! Such a cutie and full of energy! We had a great time taking pictures and even got a few with their dog Mila. Hope you like your pictures Kevin and Lauren!

The Hernon family came to visit today and I got to see Abby for the very first time. Last time I photographed this family, Abigal was still in mommy's tummy! I can't believe she is 6 months old already. Not only is Abby 6 months, but Elle is now 2 and 1/2 years old. It is amazing how they grow and how fast they change. Abby was full of smiles and Elle was "just mad" as she told me! What do you do when a child is not into the pictures and doesn't want to smile........you take pictures anyway and you usually get some things you can work with!. I also tell the family that this is a stamp/memory of real life and what you were dealing with at the time! Oh the memories!!!

89 degree weather on the first day of fall at 5 o'clock in the evening! That is how things happen here in Colorado, you can NEVER predict the weather! Luckily it was a nice evening albeit hot! The Burgess family met me at the Poudre River Trail, a place I haven't been to photograph this year because of the summer flooding there, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a small bit of fall color changes happening! Lindsay and Brian's daughter Holiday is probably one of the most beautiful little girls I have ever had the chance to photograph, her smile and her non-smile are both gorgeous and how can you not love her curls and her eyes!

What a fun Sunday morning! I got to meet up with the Minner family of 6! The kids are adorable and so photogenic, the littlest one Giana (I might have spelled it wrong) has the most gorgeous eyes and little smile, she was a flirt for the camera! Tony the middle child is all 5th grader and had plenty of fun picking on his older sister and younger brother. Lexi is so sweet and has a beautiful smile. Then there is Roco! I had a photography first when mid-way through our photo shoot, Roco (3 years old) decided to randomly jump in the pond. I think mom and dad were horrified, but not as horrified as they will be that I posted this little fact :) Because it gave me such a chuckle, I had to document it and post the after pictures! We were able to clean him up and still got some more great pictures of them. I am only posting a few, BUT seriously EVERY pictures turned out good! Hope you love them Dani and Kevin. Early this morning I drove to Highland's Ranch and met up with Josie and Brennan at Civic Green Park. Josie just turned 6 months old and Brennan is almost 3 years old already. You will remember when I first met Brennan from these pictures last year. Brennan is all boy and is not a fan of the camera, he actually told me to put it away at one time in the morning :) Josie on the other hand loves the camera! What a great time we had this morning. I love it when I get to see previous clients and get the chance to document how quickly they grow and change!

I love small weddings, they are special and intimate and relaxed. I don't typically do weddings, but when Darby called me in July and described her wedding to me a small, intimate, wedding in a tea garden, relaxed and mainly for family and very close friends to celebrate the union of two people, I couldn't say no. When I got there last Saturday it was just as she described and a complete honor to be a part of it. I love being able to capture memories and I think with these photos we did that. Darby was beautiful on Saturday and she glowed! Congratulations to Darby and Lars, may you continue to make a lifetime of memories!

I met up with high school senior Leighann last Sunday for her senior photo shoot in Downtown Greeley. Leighann came all the way up from Aurora which I thought was pretty great! Of course we have not had rain in weeks and just about the time for her shoot it got windy and threatened rain. We were able to do the pictures anyway and I think we got some beautiful shots of Leighann! She is a gorgeous, gorgeous girl and once I got her to loosen up a bit, I think she had a blast! I know I did!

The Hamm family showed up in a car with the license plate reading "8isnuff"! Such a great license plate! The family is a blended family and they total eight, with six kids, all of which are boys except sweet Makenna! They all came ready to smile and follow my lead, such well behaved kids and such a fun family to photograph! From the oldest in Tyler straight down to the youngest sweet little Ryker! You can tell they have a lot of fun together and are one big happy family!

The Edelmon's came to visit me again! I always get excited to see this family! Austin is my little buddy and he lights me up when he says "Hi Ms. Kris." The kids are growing so fast, you will remember from here when Roxann was pregnant with her! She turned 1 this week, which is so exciting! She is a bundle of love and has the best baby rolls around! Austin initally had a tough photography day, but in the end we got some great shots! I love this family and am so excited to get the chance to watch them grow!

Cashton was no exception! He was a busy just turned 2 year old who wanted nothing to do with his picture taken despite him practicing all night with the word "cheese." Despite the activity we got some great photos at one of my seldom used spots, the Adam's County Fairgrounds. Isn't he adorable?

Turning 1 is such a great milestone and a wonderful photo op, however, I get sad when the babies I take pictures of turn 1. It means that I will not see them as often and it reminds me how quickly time flies! Catey Rose is 1 year old already. She flew in from her home in San Diego to see Granddad and Nana for her birthday and spent some time with me too! I just love her red hair!

Alyssa came to me a little older than most newborns I photograph, she was born about 4-5 weeks ago. Being older she was not as sleepy and figured out what it meant when we took her away from mommy for pictures. Despite being a bit fussy, I think we got some cute pictures of her and we will tackle some more when she is older! I love meeting new families and this was one of those chances. I met up with the Olsen family during magic hour on Wednesday night and we had a blast. I am not going to write much about it because the pictures tell it all. Skye was here from California visiting her dad and step mom, mom and I went to high school together, Sage is a typical 4 year old full of energy, and little Stella is adorable with gorgeous eyes. I had a hard time picking once again so this is supersized.

Finally I got this sneak peek up, it has been a very busy week as we prepare for my return to work on Friday as the school year approaches. I posted a teaser on FB earlier this week and just haven't had time to get to this post. Baby Noah came exactly 4 weeks early. We did his momma's belly shots only a few days before he arrived. I have a feeling he is going to be a go getter! He came to visit me at just 11 days old and was an angel. He slept most of the time, and was only a little fussy when it came toward the end. He is such a cutie pie and soooo little! I forget how little they are :) His mommy and daddy love the Nebraska Cornhuskers so we got a few shots in game day apparel and added an adorable knit hat thanks to Michelle Johnson with MJhomeproductions. This is a photoshoot that I look forward to every year! Jake and Gina make it so easy, they always come in a great color theme and we all have a lot of fun. We make this a semi dual session in getting Jake with the girls and Gina with girls all in one shot instead of two separate photosessions, which makes it super easy and enjoyable for all of us. Olivia is in Karson's class at school and I can't believe they are about to be 2nd graders, I remember the day she was born! Sophia has grown into such a wonderful young lady and entering the 4th grade this fall, again, I remember the day she was born! Time is flying for these two families, and I love documenting it for them!

High School Seniors are so fun to photograph. They are a nice change of pace. An old friend from grade school gave me a call and told me that her oldest was graduating in 2011-2012 and they needed senior pictures. My first thought was, am I old enough for my friends to have children graduating high school? The answer of course is yes! My second thought was what could we do that was going to be alittle different? Austin came to me with some excellent ideas! He loves the James Dean look, so we went to downtown and scoped it out, we found some great areas to get the look he was going for. There are so many great pictures that his mom is going to have a very tough time picking them out! Thanks for the great time Austin, I enjoyed the change in my routine!

Tate and Mosley

We went on a vacation up to South Dakota last week, and it was a wonderful opportunity to see one of my closest friends in Gillette, Wy. I don't think I would choose Gillette for a vacation spot normally, but being that Nicole and Travis are there and they just recently had a baby boy, it was the perfect way to split up the vacation and I actually enjoyed Gillette :) Nikki asked me to try to take a picture with her beautiful Lab, Mosley and baby Tate while I was there. This was not an easy fete, the two most unpredictable things to photograph, a 4 week old and a dog. We ended up getting a couple of pictures after trying for 2 days. They really are sweet pictures!

My son played machine pitch baseball with his Eaton school friends this year and once again they won the division championship. Last year the same group of boys won the 6 year old division and this year it was the 7 year old division. They went undefeated for the season and won big most games. After they won the championship, the Eaton High School Legion B baseball team honored each player on the field the following night. Here is a favorite picture I took of the boys lined up by number singing the national anthem. What an honor!

I love newborns, they are so sweet and cuddly, baby Jackson did not disappoint. He is 2 weeks old and a spitting image of his daddy! He was a trooper and slept for most of our session. He got some really cute pictures and since his daddy loves to snowboard and snow ski we had to get one pictures with the helmet and boot :) JUST ADORABLE!

One of the wonderful teachers that I work with, whom I have known since she was my son's preschool teacher when he was 3 years old is having a baby! Many of us have been waiting for the day that she would tell us she was expanding her family and I can't believe that she is only 5 weeks to her due date, (doesn't she look AMAZING). We joined each other this morning for a mini belly session and she came with her smiles and her glowing personality! I am so excited to do these pictures for her and even more excited to photograph her baby boy upon his arrival!

An old friend from high school called me last minute and asked if I could fit her and her girls in for family pictures, in the summer I am not as booked and have more flexibility, so I told her if she was willing to try the evening we could do it. Most of my clients can't make 7:00 or later work for pictures, but it is truly the BEST light! We got wonderful light, a wonderful park and only a little rain :) It was great to see Aretha and her girls again too!

Yesterday morning I got up extra early and made the hour and a half drive to a small town just east of Castle Rock, a little historic town called Franktown. I had never been there and I was not sure what to expect. As I drove up the hills into a wooded area and onto the 8 acre lot of the Mudge's, I found the most beautiful landscaping I had ever scene. They had the piney woods right in their backyard. It was just gorgeous!

We also had a gorgeous day to do a photoshoot of a close knit family! I used to work with Kristen and she told me her sister was coming into town on a rare visit from Virgina and she was bringing her 10 month old little boy, so we took advantage of the whole family being together and got some great pictures! You will remember little Anya Jean from some of my other photo shoots! She has turned one and is now walking all over the place. I am still in love with those eyes!

One of the great things about growing up in a relatively small town and going to a very small high school is that I have a lot of old grade school and high school friends that have remained close to me over the years. Some have moved away, others have stayed here in Greeley, but no matter what I have been able to keep in touch. Life often gets in the way of regular contact, but nothing is better for the soul then when your old high school friends are visiting from Tuscon, Arizona and they want to take time out of their busy vacation to have "you" take their pictures!! What an honor, I am so lucky!

Barry and Jami have both been friends of mine since middle school, they are high school sweethearts :) I watched them get married, have children, and eventually move away. Their girls are beautiful and so polite! They really are the perfect family, not only to photograph, but to be friends with. The weather was not cooperating (wind and rain), but I don't think you can really tell in the pictures and the whole family were troopers! Here is their sneak peek.

I got a call from this lady wanting to do pictures of her grand kids for father's day! I thought it was a great idea! She talked about how cute the kids were (twins Lauryn and Nicolas and older sister Cameryn) and how she really wanted it done on her country property just west of Kersey. I was excited to do something different and when I arrived I was amazed by the view of the mountains and the gorgeous areas to do pictures. After we talked awhile I found out that Diane, the grandma, is actually the mother to an old high school friend of mine. Amazing the connections that we find through the hobbies and jobs we have :) This is super sized because I could not pick a favorite!

uncle kirk

My children absolutely love it when Uncle Kirk gets to town! He is like a ride at Disneyland, he is so fun and probably plays just as hard with the kids as they do with him when he comes home for a visit. I say comes home for a visit, because he usually doesn't come home but 2 times per year from Chicago where he has lived for 10+ years. When he does visit, it is usually a pretty short visit and so we try to jam pack the weekends with family and everything that revolves around the kids being with Uncle Kirk. This year, my niece Jayda was able to enjoy the visit as well although at first she was not too sure about this guy my kids call Unc Kirk! After a weekend together, even she had as much fun with him as the rest did! We took advantage of my parent's gorgeous backyard and a cloudy afternoon on Friday to get lasting memories of their time with him!

Sweet baby John.....he was not going to sleep for me even though his mommy said that he sleeps all the time :) John was born 18 days ago, on my daughter's birthday, in my book that makes him a pretty special baby boy! I work with his mommy, you will remember her from our maternity shoot we did about a month ago, and I am so honored to be able to have come in and taken their pictures. I rearranged their whole house and they were okay with it! Despite baby not sleeping we still got some good shots and some great baby faces too!

Tonight my son Karson had a baseball game at 5:30 and after we went to dinner, on the way home, as I was looking at the sunset I was so happy I had my camera with me! It was MAGIC HOUR! 8:15 pm and the sun was setting and the light was a photographer's dream, so my wonderful hubby (he understands these crazy ideas I get) pulled over at the closest park and we ran outside and took pictures of the kids. Karson was still in his baseball uniform (thank God he was not wearing eye black :) Kyndal was not dressed very nice and her hair was a mess, but it was what it was and I think these are my favorite pictures of them to date! I wish I could get all my clients to believe me when I say that evening shots are the best ones!

The P-family has been friends of ours for a long time, our husbands have been friends for 20+ years, our boys play sports together, our little girls fight like sisters and we mom's sit back and take it all in :) I have been photographing this family since I started taking pictures for other people 3 years ago and every year I still get nervous about doing these photos! Nervous because I want them to be the very best! The kids are growing into beautiful children, and yes, even though Maci and Brendan have blonde hair, Tori is their sister with dark hair and gorgeous aqua blue eyes.....those are her eyes, no editing there! There were so many great pictures, it was hard to choose, but here are some of my favorites.

It has been a year since I got to photograph the Westover family! In that year, they have referred several clients to me and I am so grateful! The last time I photographed the kids, Darrin was a newborn (remember the firetruck post :) )? That was one of my favorite shoots! Well, here they are again, this time the whole family, Darrin is one already! We had a great time playing and taking pictures. One of my favorite things about taking pictures is the candid moments that I am able to catch on camera, that truly tell a story!

I got a nice facebook message a couple of weeks ago asking if I could get Jessie and her children, Kyler and Ally in for pictures while they were visiting CO for a quick trip! I haven't seen Jessie in several years, she used to be the nurse for our family physician and moved to Alaska to be near family about 4 years ago! I was thrilled that she trusted in me to take her kiddo's pictures and when I met little Ally, I fell in love with her eyes and her smile! She made the shoot super easy because all she did was smile even though she was hungry! While we took pictures, Kyler's half brother, Alex joined us for a few pictures of just the boys too! What a fun, albeit quick, visit! Jessie, it was SO GREAT to see you! Hope you had safe travels back to Alaska!

Last Sunday, I was asked by a co-worker to photograph her son and nephew's baptism. I love doing things that are a little different, so of course I said yes! This was a unique baptism in that Lauren and her sister Casie are very close in age (family members call them the twins) and they both had their sons close together too (6 weeks apart). So on Sunday, the boys were baptized together with their parents each serving as the other child's godparents and as the many in the church stated it was a family affair! What a fun thing to be a part of!

My little Kyndal Grace is growing up, so much so that I can barely see the four year old in her. She talks like she's ten, walks like she is 12 and acts like a miniature 14 year old me! SCARY! I love her to pieces but boy is she going to take me for a ride the next 10-14 years. She turned 4 last week and we did her pictures close the house. She was not really into it and it was pretty hard to get her to focus on the pictures....she was more interested in getting home to play baseball with the boys :) She is total girly girl when with her BFF and a total tomboy when she is at home with her older brother! I can hardly believe it has been 4 years since we welcomed her to this world, she has come along way with her heart condition and health issues, she has grown to be an adorable, talkative, curious, stubborn and sassy little miss! All traits I don't think I could live without!

kelsey bug play cushions

I got the wonderful opportunity to do another product photo shoot last weekend with Kelsey Bug Play and Exercise Cushions. I had done their original photo shoot and Charity asked me again if they could use my studio for a video and if I would shoot some photos of her phase II cushions which are washable and removable! I was happy to do it for her and I am super excited with the final product. We were not able to get a newborn model for the shoot, but despite that the babies did amazing! My nephew Jack turns 1 year old tomorrow! I can't believe it has been a year already! He is such a sweet boy and getting ready to walk! He had great smiles and we enjoyed a rare day of sunshine this weekend when I met up with my sister in law and brother in law for his year old pics!

These pictures will make you smile, they capture the essence of a fun family! The Penn's are a family that won one of my 1/2 off sessions from a bazaar I did in Greeley in early Spring. The children are 3 year old twins and full of energy. I did a lot of running and hiding and jumping and dancing for these pictures and boy was it a ton of fun!
